I have an 2 S8720 servers running CM5.1 operating as redundunant servers. Over the weekend we performed a clean shutdown in order to do some facilities work. The primary server came back up without problems, but our backup server is failing a file systems check and will not restart.

Each server is backed up to compact flash cards. What steps would I have to take to restore the file systems from backup and bring the server back up and running?

Sounds like you're going to need to reload the OS and CM.

The hard drive may be bad but if it's not just pop the CM 5.2 disk in and follow the prompts to reload the server. You'll need to connect to the "services port" and when you configure the server you can select "copy config from duplicate server".

All of this is well documented. you can find the install docs at support.avaya.com.

If you have problems with any of that let us know and I'm sure we can get you through it.

It's not as difficult as you might think. The entire process takes about an hour and most of that is you waiting for the software to load or the server to reboot.
