A laptop is running Vista Ultimate Edition and is joined to a 2003 domain. All files that were previously on the file server are accessible. However, any new files that are created or modified and saved on the server will not open on the laptop. They give an “Access Denied” error even though they can still be opened on an XP system. Just to test out some things, files were copied to a flash drive from an XP desktop then plugged into the laptop. Vista could open the files just fine on the laptop. The files were then copied from the laptop to the shared folder which gave no errors but gave an “Access Denied” error again!?!? So even when files from the Vista machine are copied to the server, it can’t open them.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried to redo the Sharing AND Ntfs permissions to see if that makes any difference?
