Server Farm Question

I know this may be a simple question but I have to ask anyway. When you have a server farm with load balancing, and you want users to access a database, how does that data replicate to the database even though your users are technically logging in to different servers?

The application is installed on the servers in the farm, but they are making a call to the same database, which most likely is on an entirely different server. It is the same as 2 local machines calling the database via the application.
