HEllo... I'm new here, and also beginner for the front page 2000 program... I need help here with publishing my site... I'm getting an error saying This server extensions do not support this action to FTP server...

Another error saying The server your are publishing to does not have the Front Page Server Extension installed and there fore does not support publishing via HTTP
To continue publishing, specify a location that will work with FTP.

Also, another one
This operation requires author permission to
So, these are the three most common problems I recently been having and I am getting fuserated with this... Please help.. I'm glad I found this site...

ok to your first two questions... if you are trying to upload a website that is designed with front page 2000 and contains asp, you need to have an front page server extensions web host... this allows you to publish the web via front page, if you have to ftp the site, then your webhost does not have front page server extensions available.. the other problem, is that if your host has asp services, that does not necisaraly mean front page asp will work on it....
you will need to find a host with front page server extensions installed and supported....

The third error. is returned from the hosting unit... it basicallyt means that you do not have authorisation to publish onto that folder... ie your password and name are not included in the users of that folder, which of course means you cannot use it.. speak to the owner of the server to have your name added to it.

Hope that helsp

Further to Krappleby's answer, it's not just asp files that need the FrontPage extensions. If you want to use FrontPage components such as hit counters, search pages, etc then these also require them.

As a guide, most free webhosts don't provide them, and commercial hosting usually charge around £50 per year extra to provide the FP extensions.

If this is the situation, and you are just building a home site or something similar, then you will need to use something like cgi scripts on the server (again probably only commercial hosting), write your own Java/Javascript routines, or use one of the free functions that you will easily find on a google search.
