Server Edition not sending voicemail as email

We have configured our SMTP server and are still not receiving email attachments with voicemail.
Users have been configured to receive email (copy).
How do we troubleshoot this?
What filters do we need to enable in Monitor to see if emails are going out?
Any other tools?
We are using a GMAIL account for this (not sure if that even works for this).

Using IPO Server Edition R12.0 (current release), on Avaya Dell hardware.a
 
Enable logging in VMPro Client, restart VM service, leave a test voicemail. Go to /opt/vmpro/logs to find the most current SMTP log. It is plain text and you can see the attempt of VMPro to send the email and the SMTP server's responses.

Remember to turn logging OFF and restart service once you're done toubleshooting.
 
In the Gmail account security settings, you need to "allow less secure devices".
I'd also test it out with an SMTP service that you know works for sure. All of the systems that I had been using Gmail for stopped working about a year ago.
