Server Edition: Licence Error

Hi guys!

I'm installing a server edition right now (4 gateways (IPO500)). Three of the units connect well to the server but the fourth makes trouble.
Monitor of the fourth unit says: ERR: IPOFFICE IS UNUSABLE UNTIL SERVER EDITION (AND UPGRADE) LICENCE IS ADDED and another message that says that the licence server is unreachable.
5 Server Edition Licenences are present on the server.
- The fourth unit is editable via Manager, System Status works, Monitor works, embedded Filemanagement works. Ping works. It sends and receives SCN data.
- Because with Server Edition it is not possible to show interface (nic) packets in Monitor I cannot confirm if packets sent from the fourth unit are received by the server. But I don't see any suspicious packets being sent anyway.
Question for the geeks:
- Does anybody know how IP Office Server Edition communicates regarding connecting and registering of SCN(Server Edition)-nodes? Protocol, Port, anything?

What I did so far:
- Reboot of the gateway (hard and soft) and the server (IPO only and Linux).
- Asked the network admin to check the firewall - no ports blocked. Some ICMP packets are dropped by the firewall. But they shouldn't matter. The vpn-routers have been restarted.
- Removed the fourth unit from the solution and added it again.

Any ideas?

Try this.

format and recreate the SD card.
Put it in and connect to the IPO.
It will ask what type it should be and make it a server edition expansion system.
Then login in to the server and remove the system that does not work.
Then add it again.
If it keeps failing take it to the server and try again to be sure it is not a network issue.

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunaltely, the server is in Austria and the gateway in Germany. Therefore its not so easy to recreate the SD card. The funny thing is that the problem is not easy noticeable. You see it in Monitor, System Status (Alarms/Services) and on the phones connected to the gateway in Germany (showing No Licence available). Manager does not whine and shows the gateway as connected.
System Status additionally says something about the grace period being expired and timeout or bad answer from the licence server.
We connected the boxes together before we shipped them (including simulating the customers network). But nobody looked into Monitor - so we can't say for sure if it worked before.

After connecting the IP500V2, did you reboot the server?
It is a good thing to do that anyway to see if it solves the problem.

I rebooted everthing (IPO-server, gateways, VPN-router) - a lot of times...

Then i am out of options.

I did not know that it is possible via Web control, too.

All units run with the same firmware.

In the meantime Avaya support has been contacted - but so far they have no clue either.

Yesterday I took the two hour drive and reformated the SD card of the affected gateway. Did a factory reset too (reset button). But it did not help - after adding the gateway it shows the same error again.

Next thing we try is to ship the unit back to the main office (where the server resides) and try without a network in between.

There is no option to remove from the webcontrol.
