Got a server edition rls 10.0.0.3 with two VM Pro servers using virtual servers to run the OS. One of the VM Pro is primary, the other is set to backup.

Each night the customer runs a backup of the virtual servers using Symantec Backup Exec. It seems as though the VM Pro will failover to the backup, but it never works again. We have to stop the backup VM Pro service, and then restart the primary.

TLPeter stated: To be sure stop the service of the backup vm server and restart the service of the main vm server.
Then wait a couple of minutes and then start the service of the back vm server.

My question is: Where is it defined when the primary goes offline and should come back online when available again? Also, how does the primary replicate to the backup?

As always, thanks in advance!!

the primary VM Pro should be on the Server edition itself.

the VM Pro servers communicate Vis SMTP so if this has not been correctly configured things will not be working properly

it can take over 3 minutes for the backup server to recognise that the Primary is back in service.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

For the default method of failback (Graceful failback), once the backup voicemail has seen that the primary voicemail is available again, it still won't relinquish control until it has both completed SMTP synchronization and there are no voicemail calls in progress.

You can set it to automatic, which will not wait for SMTP sync to be completed but I think will still wait for SMTP sync to have started.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
