Hi all,

my server (PDC with Ex2000) before few days crash.(file system was corupted) Was no any chance put it together. So I reinstall it. I have this crashed system on one disk and priv.edb, pub.edb on other disk. Question is how to get data from priv.edb and pub.edb and insert it to new system. Any good idea?
I don't have any backups from peviews system...

thanks,
Frenkie

On 5.5 the information store can rebuild the dir.edb but I am not sure about 2000. If I delete the log files from the dsdata folders, along with the dir.edb, and restore the information store I can get exchange back up and running. This is still using a restore to replace the priv and pub though. Also, this is on a server that has been set up as a test server for exchange. Have you had any luck so far?

Hi vb8304,

I not have any luck, but I snifing for any help. Was good document wrote about it for 5.5, but nothing for 2000. Also Microsoft say, you may rebuild your database when you have all log files, which I have, but they not say how. Maybe I found one possible way, but I don't know. ESEUTIL found this databes is ok. So for checking this database they must firs open it. I look inside ESEUTIL which use ESE.dll. ESE.dll is JET engine for manipulation with these databases, but I not may found description all that function which have. Some of that function answer you when you using it wrong, based on this I try put together program for using it. I hope one day this thing work or maybe I found some better solution. Also I want this weekend make second server and testing how to put it together, maybe I have luck.

anyway,
thanks for help
Frenkie
