I'm wondering if anyone could help me decide our needs for a server. We are a printing company planning to put together a macintosh prepress department. We have had suggestions on NT, SGI, and SUN. Would any of these be best suited to our needs or overkill. How should I base my decision?

TIA

cvc,

I would suggest that you base your choice of hardware on these criteria:

First -- What hardware and O/S will your application run on?

Second -- If the app will run on more than one platform -- Which platform does the application vendor recommend for the way you will use the application?

Third -- If Question 2 still leaves you with more than one platform -- Which platform(s) can you support most effectively? Do you have any UNIX expertise available to you for instance?

Fourth -- If Question 2 still leaves you with more than one platform -- Which platform will give you the best performance for your money? (support considerations should be looked at here as well) Mike
