Can anyone recommend a server backup (linux box), or at least a tip on making protected backups?

Thanks in advance!!

What do you mean by protected backups?

I use cpio for my backup purposes.
I usually runs a find command and pipes that to cpio which handles the information to tape procedure.

look at the manual pages for cpio or come back for more info. /Sören

I concur, Arkeia is a very nice solution, and I use it myself.

Be sure to download the users guide and install guides also :)

I note that in the manual it states that recursive links are not detected. Does this mean that it works like TAR and links symbolic links to the first linked file it restores rather than the file the links were originally linked to?
