Server Assistant permissions

When I launch Server Assistant while logged into remote desktop I show up as only a user in the top right hand corner of the screen. My ID is nested in a group in the local admin group. When I put my ID straight into the local admin group and then launch server administrator it logs me in as an administrator.

Does anyone know why?
