Server Agent wont run DTS jobs

Sql Server agent won't run any of my DTS jobs. The DTS job is just a tester--a blank console app. If I run the job in the DTS manager, it works fine, but Sql server agent won't run it. I've clicked throught the properties and nothing seems out of line. For the package I'm talking about, it has step 1: rundts and then the encoded job.

Any ideas? Thanks

How do you know the package won't run?

Have you scheduled it to run?

Have you checked the Job status under Manager / SQL Server Agent?

Please provide a little more information.

I know the package won't run because it says "Failed" under job status in SQL Server Agent.

The job runs under DTS.
Other jobs created through SQL Agent work.
However, the job that works in DTS (when I press play), won't work when scheduled. SQL Server agent will try to run it, but the job Fails.

Well, that helps!

1. Right Click on the failed Job.
2. Select View Job History
3. When that Box comes up acivate the box in the upper right called...show step details.

The messages that are displayed should help determine the problem.

As an example - if your ID does not have Sys Admin authority, the job will fail, and the message will indicate that.
