This morning I shut down a server, running Server 2k3, to install a MultiTech MDX modem to a serial port. Turn the computer back on, to receive a BSOD, with the error in the subject line. No memory dump.
The server itself has one serial port, which has a pre-existing Multitech modem on it, and a PCI card which adds two serial ports. One of those serial ports alreay had a modem on it, and I was adding the third modem.
Removed the modem, and rebooted. Same message. Removed ALL modems, rebooted. Disabled the PCI card in Device Manager, rebooted.
Ran last known good configuration, same error.
Ran chkdsk twice. Same error.
I've run two memory tests. Pulled out all but one stick of RAM, same error. Ran the Dell diagnostic test, and everything came back fine.
I know the error is something to do with a DIV command where the divisor is 0.. But I don't know where that command can be coming from.. According to all Dell Diags, hardware is fine (Using all stock stuff from Dell).
So that leaves drivers. I would guess Multitech drivers? The new modem is a slightly different model, same line, just the newer one. However, I didn't get so far as installing drivers. I hooked it up, and when it got to the splash screen the BSOD hooks up.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
David
