I am having some issues with setting up VPN access with Server 2003. I am new to VPN but have a pretty good grasp on LAN networking. I have a cable modem connected to a router then connected to a cisco catalyst. My VPN server is plugged into the catalyst. I'm using PPTP and have port 1723 open in the router. Also, I'm using just a workgroup not a domain.

My issue is that I can connect to the VPN server but cannot browse the network. I can ping by IP and connect with the IP of each local shared machine but nothing shows up in My Network Places. I do have netbios enabled via TCP/IP on both adapters on the VPN server. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Browsing service (which lists computer in "My Network Place") used broadcasts. And your server reject brodcasts. Try use common WINS server or two replicated wins servers on both end of vpn.
