I have a site that is running Server 2003 standard. A vendor setup a router to router vpn using Cisco ASA 5505s. What do i have to do so the remote sites (2 sites, single WinXP Pro pc at each site)can access the server to run an application?
it depends on whether the asa's are acting as the gateways for your respective local networks. if they are then no extra config should be required. if they're not and you have some other device as the gateway then youll want to add a route to that device pointing to the asa as the next hop to reach the opposite side of the site-to-site.

I am not a Cosco person. Configuring the ASA is not allowed. Another vendor set up the router to router vpn and told the office manager "it is working". I get to the remote site and cannot ping the server by ip nor it's name. I was wondering what else i might need to do in order to get this to work, such as needing to configure RRAS.
if the site-to-site was setup properly any traffic from your local network bound for the remote network should be sent through the ipsec tunnel. be sure to check client firewalls to make sure that they will allow the traffic.
