Hello

In our Production Environment, we have 6 XP Laptop users which are connected via Wireless (WLAN) to our network.

All of them claim that they have Profile Problems. Because the also need to log on to other Workstations in our company, the need Server Based User Profiles. When the connect the LAN cable, they have no problems with Profiles. However, we need to use only WLAN instead of LAN in the future.

Some users, when they log in, a message appears that the Profile could not be found or synchronized. At others, when they log on to different computers they have different looking profiles.

I suspect that this is the case because, at the time they log in, no connection to the server is available because the Wireless Network connection is established AFTER logon, as soon as the Desktop is visible.

Questions:

1. Is it possible that this Problem Exists because no network connection is available during Login because they are using wireless?
2. If the answer to question one is yes, is it possible to establish a wireless conection BEFORE users log in?
3. When they logoff, will the wireless connection be interrupted before or after the profile has been synchronized with the Server? I'm asking because that could be the reason that the profiles are not saved correctly
4. Any other ideas to solve this Problem?

You can enable Machine Authentication so the PC associates with the AP before the user logs on. This requires some configuration though... RADIUS Server (MS IAS), PEAP or EAP-TLS Authentication and then WPA/WPA2 and 802.1x on the Access Points.

I had a quick search on here but only found the above two posts that were relevant.
