I currently have Linux Mint 7 on my laptop, and I am somewhat disappointed. I want to go with a Windows release, possibly Windows 7. However, I have always liked Windows Server Enterprise 2003. Has anyone put this on a workstation/laptop? If not, does anyone foresee any problems with doing this? I don't plan using any server setups (FTP, web server, etc.), nor do I plan on setting up an Active Directory. I simply like it for its stability.

I have put it on a workstation. Hardest part is getting the drivers. I didn’t have server drivers for the workstation hardware so I had to get creative with XP and 2k drivers to get most of the onboard hardware to be recognized. Your mileage will definitely vary. Good luck.

Thanks, guys.

Linux for me is too much trouble right now. I have had Linux on since Gloria was released, but there are too many things that Wine cannot do.

I figured the drivers would be the hard part, which kinda sucks. I will try anyway...I could always put Linux back on as a last resort. It found all the drivers with no problems.

Most of my home lab runs Windows 2003 Ent/Std on anything from a 10yr old Compaq Deskpro (Pentium-II 450/500 Mhz models) to a 4 year old IBM Netvista workstation which runs my VMWare environment. As Roadki1l said, if you're not worried about driver support for stuff like CD burners, it works like a charm.
