I have installed a new Windows Server 2003 onto the company network as a DC. I ran DCPromo and I thought all was well. It is also a Routing and Remote Access server for VPN as well as a DHCP server. It is to replace two aging DC's which I will demote. This will leave me with two DC's for a network of 8 servers and 60 workstations. All seems to work well enough but the new server event log shows EventID 4521
- The DNS Server encountered error 9002 attempting to load zone . from active directory. The DNS server will attempt to load this zone again on the next time out cycle.
I get this every three minutes. The only difference I can see is that this server has cached lookups which the others do not. If I clear the cache the error stops for a while then returns as the cache starts to fill. Can I get rid of the cache and if so how? I used DCPromo which installed DNS . I have inherited this network and plan to reduce the number of DC's from 4 to 2 before installing an MS Exchange Server next month. I figure it would be good to have everything correct before installing exchange.
Any help appreciated.
