Trying to get a Windows Server 2003 machine to connect to our Novell network. Running Netware 4.12 with 3 servers in the tree. Server 2 is the main server that everyone logs into. The client loads fine and we can specify tree, context and server in the network properties. When the login screen appears after reboot and the advanced button is clicked, all parameters are found; the tree, context and server. However after username and password are entered we get a message that says the specified server cannot be found. The script runs but takes very long, I assume because the main server is not recognized and the corresponding drives cannot be mapped. Once the script is done running and the user is logged in all drive mappings are there for the other two servers but not Server 2. Also when you double click my network places and drill down, Server 2 appears with all the other entities but we cannot access it. This happens with both client 4.83 and 4.91. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

ok
i'm rusty on anything below 6.5
havent seen 4.x for more than 5 years

firsty on the 2003 server - i have to ask - why do you need to to see netware side?

then ignoring this - the client is installed - i will need to select ipx - now i assume it's 802.2 you are running or ?

on the protocols on server - select this and specify the netwaork address rather than auto and enter the number

Terry,

Thank you for the response. We are in the process of a migration from Netware to Windows and are testing various methods of moving the data. Also would like to get users on the new network before cutting off the old. I will try your suggestions and see how they work today. Thanks again.

All I can say is "Why".

Upgrade your NetWare to NetWare 6.5 and you don't have do deal with any of the nightmare issues involved in a WINDOWS migration. You don't have to rip everything out and replace, and you won't have downtime (Inevitable on a Windows migration).
