Hi, Can anyone assist me.

I am setting up a stand alone 2003 server at work. I need to know how to set up a new domain for my server. We have registered a number of internet domains e.g.
When creating a domain on my server should i create a domain like "fc4.local" or "fc4.net" ?

How do i then set up the server to host the domain name "fc4.net" ?

I need to be able to get an SSL certifcate for remote web workplace, outlook web access and push e-mail. To get an SSL certificate you have to request one for an internet domain name. How can i do this, assign the domain name fc4.net to my server and be able to navigate to for example - to be able to access the outlook web access remotely using a secure connection?

Thanks

If you are setting up active directory it requires that you host your own internal DNS server, AD requires DNS. For this reason I would keep your private (internal) name space separate from you public name space. So for AD, naming your internal domain fc4.local, fc4.corp, or fc4.inc is a good idea.

More that likley fc4.net will be used for your Internet presence, correct? I would set up a separate web server either at a hosting facility or within my DMZ. It really depends on your budget and what type of resources you have available within your company.
Then, since you will not be hosting your own DNS server on the Internet, your ISP would assign you a public IP address and more than likely offer a service to host your hostname and MX (Mail) record on a public DNS Server.

Ok, so i have set up the server with a domain of "enterprise.local"

I have run the remote access wizard and set-up vpn connections to server which are working.

To access the server remotely using remote workplace i can navigate to my static ip address (82.69.x.x) with my router forwarding port 443 to my server's ip (192.168.0.250) so remote webworkplace works by typing in

or
This is set up using a self signed certifcate which always brings up an error message in ie7 when navigating to the site remotely which says the certifcate is not valid.

How can i get a valid ssl certifcate for my static IP address asssigned to me by my ISP?

As far as your public domain name, you are going to have to have an external DNS server point your hostname.net to your public IP address. Same with your MX record for your mail server.
