hi folks,

has anyone encountered or is it even possible to upgrade the pdc and all bdc's on an nt4 server domain to server 2000 WITHOUT implementing Active Directory?

someone in my company has convinced the men at the top that it can be done but i've never heard of it and cannot see how it will work.

surely everything from user manager and server manager among other key systems is encapsulated into the AD database when the PDC goes Server2K. i kno the PDC role is always emulated but how can a NT4 PDC and all BDC's go to Server2K without using AD?!

if anyone has any ideas or experience then i would love to hear from you.

thanks guys,

scanman...

If it's a 2000 domain controller, it has active directory. No ifs, no ands, no buts... except for the "someone in my company" who must come from an alternate universe. Active directory is the database mechanism by which a 2000 domain controller stores all its domain information.
