Arcserve 2000 on w2k server, backing up novell groupwise server with arcserve netware agent.

frequently, server abends after unload dsbacker.nlm
I read on arcserve tech database that the servdata.nds is probably corrupted.

Now, i am deleting the servdata.nds everyday, sometime before the backup starts. This has stopped the abends, but i am concerned about deleting this file during the day - does it have any purpose except for when an nds backup runs ?

Have you got any Disaster Recovery options set? If I am correct, the SERVMAN.NDS file should only get created as part of a Disaster Recovery option. Check your job and see if it is ticked, if so try unticking it for a backup or two and see if the abends go away. -----------------------------------------------------
