We sent the following question to Cognos Tech Support:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
We currently have Upfront 6.0.443.0 We know that IE 6 is not supported for this version. What we want to know is:
When we upgrade to Series 7, will we be forced to upgrade to IE 6 for the portal to function ? Or will IE 5.5 work ??

This was their answer:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
When you upgrade to Series 7 (MR1 and MR2) you will not have to change the browser version. It is even recommended to stay with 5.5.
Here is the link for your viewing:

However, if you will be upgrading to Series 7, Version 2, then you can use both- either IE 5.5 or 6.0 would be fine.

Our question now is: Does anyone know why they recommend staying with IE 5.5?
Has anyone out there upgraded to Series 7 and IE 6 ?? How has that worked for you ? Any problems or pitfalls you could share?
Thanks !

We are running 7 MR2 and we have IE 5.0 , IE 5.5 and IE 6.
And we don't have any problem.

We have a test server with 7.2, I m running IE5.5 and I don't have problem either.
with 7.2, if you are using IE 5.0 then you don't have the ability to Drag and Drop in web page , so PPES cubes will be displayed the same way as in PPES6 or PPES7.

If I remember correctly Cognos 6.61 is having a patch to support IE6, we had installed it , and that was OK. I think it was 6.61 RBF3 but you need to get a confirmation before upgrading , I might be wrong.

Hi,
I have worked with 7 and IE6.0, its working fine for me but I haven't tested with IE 5.5 or lesser.
