Avaya has a feature for Digital sets called serialization. These serialized phones will allow a person to just unplug the digital set and move it and plug it in. The number follows (as long as "Moves" is administered). Does any version of the NEC have a similar feature?

In a word NO. The physical connection determines the station number. However with IP stations the station that logs on to a mac address stays with the mac address so if you unplug it and move it to another location it immediately registers as that extn.

The NEC digital feature is called Set Relocation.
This allows you to walk to another digital set, dial an access code followed by the extension you want to swap with, and it will swap with that extension. Saves you having to move and plug the actual sets in.
This is available on the NEC NEAX 2000IVS2/IPS, IPK, and IPKII. Not sure if it's on the 2400. Never looked for it.

Ok

So in a word yes

Damn forgot about that one! We never use it so it isn't something I often have to deal with.

Pave.

there is no Set Relo on the 2400's

but there is CSTN. (cont. change of station number)
easy way to do it is change sta 1 to sta xxxx
change sta 2 to yyyy.
change yyyy to sta 1.
change xxxx to sta 2.

Check out Feature F-31 (follow Phone)in the feature and Specs Manual for the 2400. It may do what you are looking for.

NEC Aspire also has a "Swap" feature. Log into WebPro, enter the two extension numbers to swap, click Apply, then move the phones. Very easy.
