I recently purchased a Serial to USB adapter cable to connect my Dragon naturally speaking mobile device to my PC, I had lost the inital cable and all my attempts to get a new one from Dragon sys have failed. So I bought this cable it says USB to Serial adapter cable, but I was wondering if there was any way to make it go Serial to USB. I have the drivers for it, but they are backwards. I cannot find any kind of cable toe go from My COM ports to a USB b/c that is what the Mobile device requires. Any kind of help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have PCI slot open? You could try a PCI/USB device and add USP to the system. Ed Fair

Forgot to mention the software on the PC for the Mobile Device uses the COM ports, it makes you select the one to use in the configuration. How would I configure the software for this?

gman13,

I could be mistaken on this one, but I believe you cannot use a USB device on a standard Serial COM port. I know there are adapters that allow USB to work on PS/2 connections, but I don't think it's quite the same for Serial. If you find out otherwise, post back here and let me know what you find!

That's what I thought too, but as far as I can tell the Dragon Naturally Speaking Mobile unit uses a Serial to USB cable. I don't have a clue as to what other type of cable it could use, the link software is configurable for only The COM ports and the mobile device has a USB port. I dont know what else it could use. Any ideas would be very helpful.
