I cross posted this to PPP but thought I would have a greater audience here.

Basically, I read through the PPP-Howto but I dont trust myself. I would like to make a null modem serial connection with PPP. ANy help on the set-up is greatly appreciated as well as a good description on how to ensure that i use the correct dev.

Thanks

Which com port are you using? DOS com1 is ttyS0 in the Linux world. If you are trying to set up an external modem, try using KPPP. It comes with the KDE files. If you don't have it, you can load it using the RPM. Older versions of linuxconf will also help with the installation. All of the files for this type of installation will be saved in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory. The main files are ifcfg-pppX and cat-pppX. To get the daemon started, type ifup pppX. X is the ppp device, typically ppp0.
