From a hardware standpoint - Can I conrol pin seven on the serial port with a grounding switch. What are the electrical ratings of pin seven? Will voltage above what threshold turn it off? Will zero volts turn it on? Does it have its own internal pullup resistor so that it can be floated when the switch is open (there's a cable attached)?
