Hi Mike,
Regarding back-to-back Frame-relay link it not required to have 3rd router.
You can connect them with DTE & DCE cables.

I know.. but to emulate an actual frame *Switch Cloud* using a 2500 series router, you need the middle router to nothing but frame.. ie.. DLCIs at each end of the link, frame switch and 2nd link with DLCIs at each end.. this emulates the real world of having a CO providing the frame cloud.

This allows all sorts of fun configs and testing in a lab instead of the "real world" or your boss's link ;-)
