Hi sdh!

To communicate with external world e.g. some weighing scale, U need to know the protocol first.

If you want to extract weigh data, you need to poke its port first. The poking data string could be found from the manufacturer only as it is a trade secret and disclosing the string of transmission from the manufacturer depends upon their juridiction.

Any way, may I know the name of the weigh scale manufacturer, if it is possible, I may help you in some way.

thanks eastwood

the balance is made by sartorius. The guys in the lab currently tell me that they use terminal for windows 3.1 and an excel macro to achieve the job but we need to get upto date a bit!
So your help would be much appreciated.

If you haven't solved your thread about linking tables int access give me I have achieved it be writing a schema.ini file and linking that way if you need the code just ask.
