Hi everyone! I need to be able to dig information out of Networker post-backup. Is there any way I can somehow do the following two things through scripts or by digging through the logs?

1. Given a serial number, can I find out which backup group was backed up on it? I know I can find out the save set(s) and the client, but can I find out the group name as well?

2. Given the record of a backup and the tape that it used, can I find out whether the data written to that tape was appended to the tape, or whether it overwrote the data previously on the tape?

Once again I bow to the gurus of the board! Thanks.

If you are using unix, look in /nsr/logs/messages after the backup completes, you can write a script to pick up the group name. I have done so already using the KORN shell.
