Serial I/O in VFP

I'm trying to read serial port information from a UPS digital scale using MSCOMM32.ocx thru VFP. The scale weight is accessible thru old DOS programs so I know the scale is working. I have the port configuration set properly thru the control panel and have done the same in the property sheet of the MScomm32 control.

I have set the SETTINGS property set to .t. so the port is open.

I'm not sure of which property the serial data is read into.

Anyone had experience with serial I/O thru VPF?
