We have a HP/UX rp2470 with a 3-way serial connection on the back. We currently have a dumb terminal plugged into this.

The server is due to be relocated into a new rack with some Windows servers. Because we haven't got space to put the dumb terminal in, I was wondering if we could instead use a cable to a COM port on one of the Windows servers and then use Hyperterm instead to control the Unix server ?
If yes, what sort of cable do we need ?

yes, you can do it... hyperterminal is an emulator of your dumb terminal. You can use the same cable!!

Thanks for the reply.

Unfotunately the exisitng cable is very short and is 9 -> 25 pin.
I will need a 9 -> 9 pin cable instead. Is this a null modem cable ?
