Hello,

I have a solaris box connected to windows XP through serial port A to a serial port on Windows box. I don't have ethernet connectivity on the solaris box.

I want to send some files from windows xp to Solaris box. How would I do that ?

Any suggestion would be appreciated...

Thank You.

I'm doing it at home with hyperterminal. It's kind of a pain, but works.

Thanks you both for your replies.

I thought there is some way to transfer files (bin & ascii )
through serial ports between Solaris and Windows. I see in Tera-Term there are option like kermit, zmodem etc but you got to have their respetive servers on the solaris side yes?

The solaris box does has a floopy drive and cdrom. May that will help me ?

Thanks

Should have said that before.
How about USB flash drive? ( so you don't have to dig around for a floppy disk )

anyway look at for lrzsz which supports zmodem. (I have not used it, but things in sunfreeware tend to work) Or I am sure there is a free kermit (I believe I used something like C-kermit before.

You should be able to write it to floppy and mount the floppy on your Solaris box as a DOS floppy. USB works even better.

The install will put things in /usr/local.
