Serial connection to BCM 450 1

I am a working BCM 450 and I am trying to access it via a serial connection but I am not successful. I am using a USB to serial from my laptop and a serial DB9 to DB9 to the BCM 450. Here are my questions below:

Q1: Is it a serial cable that I need or a null modem cable?
Q2: The settings I found on line for a HyperTerminal connection are 115000 8 N 1 Hardware. Is that the correct setting?

The BCM 200,400 and 1000 uses 9600 Baud and the 450 uses 115200 Baud.
