Serial connection / Com Port

Does anyone have a sample for making a RS422 serial connection? I found some code I thought I could use at

but it uses __gc and __nogc which I am not familiar with and I get errors because of these calls. I want a simple connection to a ComPort, to read and write, but am having alot of difficulty.
