Hello all.

I have a APC Matrix 5000 UPS with two sun servers running Solaris 7 connected to it. The Matrix 5000 has a DB9 female serial port on it. I installed a SNMP card in the UPS for support of the Powerchute Network Shutdown provided by APC. In order for me to configure this SNMP card, I need to talk to the Matrix through the Serial port.

Now my question....Is there any other way for me to configure this without having to get a VT320 or some other dummy terminal? Meaning, does Solaris have a package or product that can provide a lower means of communications to devices like such?

If my question doesn't make sense, I apologize.

Thanks in advance,
J

You can use tip ex:
# tip hardwire

uses configuration from "/etc/remote" file named "hardwire", check/change "/etc/remote" if you need diferent default parameters.

Hope it helps,

Regards,
