hi all
i have configured a modem to RS6000 and then make a dialup
connection from win95 client with 9600 bps successfully.
As soon as i change the port(ttyx) speed to 19200 (or even
decrease to a value other than 9600)with making same changes
for the tty in /etc/uucp/Devices file either garbage appears
on pc screen or no output.
Infact i have also programmed the modem with cu command
to work with 19200 speed and it shows ok response with
at command.
But using "ate" it shows 1200 for modem speed and if i make a change there it accept that change but on making a link
no output appears on the screen.
All appears to be correct(devices file,pc emulation s/w settings, tty on Rs6000) but still problem
All ideas will be highly appreciated.

This worked for me:

BAUD rate [19200] PARITY [none]
BITS per character [8]
Number of STOP BITS [1]
TERMINAL type [dumb]
FLOW CONTROL to be used [rts]
OPEN DISCIPLINE to be used [dtropen]

I found using the XON/XOFF caused problems, but of course you need a full cable if you are going to use hardware handshaking (RTS).

The opposite was true for serial printers, the default rts would not work for me, I hat to resort to software handshaking (XON/XOFF)
