Serial Cable Extention

I purchased a USB to Serial Adapter DB-9 Cable for my Compac Presario model 1700 laptop. The cable I received via mail is only about 1 ft. long. I need to add an extension cable, but I am unsure what type cable I need.

Serial, Null Modem, etc?

i would get a USB extention cable from your local department store (wal-mart). look at the connectors on the end before you head out just to make sure you don't get the wrong one. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."
