hi,

I want to sequentialy number my work orders so we can keep track and make sure they are all turned back in to the office. I'm using these work orders to tag product with RFID tags. I know what the monthly stock levels are for each RFID items and I generat work orders so the warehouse can tag the required amount of product. I have the report already made and it gets the data from a query that shows all of the items that a need to be tagged. When I click to for to generate the work order I would like to prompt the user with a box so he can enter the last work order number he got and it will sequentialy number all of the work orders from that number on. My current format is RFID-00000

There may ba better more automated way of doing this so I'm open to suggestion. I a beginer at access but can get around with some instructions.

Thanks
Rick

For sequential numbering you can make use of an autonumber field or you can use Dmax, like Dmax("TagNo","tblTags") + 1.

Or, to handle the first addition in an empty table - so I just learned:)
Nz(DMax("[TagNo]","[tblTags]"),0) + 1

Just let it go...

I had a similar problem. I tried the above method but after the first order, all other orders had the same order id....does anybody have an idea of how to solve this?
