I'm new at creating databases in Lotus Notes environment. I have two questions:
1)I'm trying to tweak one of our existing database to have it become an issue database. But the design from the original database lacks a function that auto generates an issue number each time we have an issue, so I need to create a field that can automatically generate a sequential number everytime a new issue is created in the database. 2)I'm trying to figure out how to view the properties of an existing action button, like what it does, etc. of another database, but it seems that the only function that have to do with action is creating one, not viewing one.
Can anyone help me? Thanks

1) Create a view for the issues as they are logged ('uses Form ...'). Make the issue number the first column in the view. Use a @DbLookup to find the last used number and increment it by one on the form when creating a new issue report. This way, if someone cancels out of submitting, the last number will still be valid.
2) If you have Designer access to the database, open the form on which the button appears and look at the action pane in the top right (you may have to slide the border over to open the frame). The action you're looking for will be listed there (probably among others) and its action will either be listed in the programming box on the bottom or, if you double-click the action name, in the properties.

Hope this helps. "One fish, two fish,

Red fish, blue fish."
