In File Explorer, why are folders not listed in any logical sequence. For example, "201602February" is listed before "20140903Wycombe".

Is there a setting somewhere.

I think it has been like this since Windows 7.

Hi Linney,

Thank you. The first link did it. (I only have the home edition so had to use Regedit.)

I still do not understand the logic behind the sequence that the folders were shown in.

Thanks

The numerical sorting method detected the numbers: 201,602 (201602February) and 20,140,903 (20140903Wycombe). Obviously 201,602 < 20,140,903 so the lower number was listed first.

It's so obvious now that you explain it.

Why didn't I see that?

Thanks.
