Seperating Date information

In a table I have a text field that takes data like : Aug 2005, Nov 2005, Dec 2005... etc.

Is there a way I could seperate this info to take the mm and year seperately for sorting purposes?

You may try something like this (SQL clause):
ORDER BY CDate('01' & [your text field])
