Hi,
Our building uses one Avaya phone system for a few separate companies. We have the ip 406 with the Ip Manager version 5.1.
Right now all companies have the music on hold setup to come from an external source. One company wants to have a different on hold sound, promotional information.
I'm not sure how to set this up, or if it possible to have different sounds playing for specific extensions/hunt groups.

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

You have a 406 running 3.1 (the Manager programme is 5.1), you will probably need a new system to do this, unless your system can go to 4.2 (memory limitation on early 406s can prevent this) then you get multiple MOH sources (.wav files) :)

Thank you for your quick response. How would I know if my system is upgradable to 4.2? Also if I was to do an upgrade could there be issues down the road (slow system/lots of lag) because it is such an older system?

Thanks for the help!

Look on the back, if it says PCS8 or higher on the sticker you are good, if it says PCS7 you may be ok (you need monitor to check) if PCS6 or earlier it's a no go :)

It is a PCS6 so I guess thats a no go. Thanks.

If it's important to you a new chassis isn't a massive amount and you can re-use handsets and line cards, also any licences can be transferred :)

Sounds like a bigger job then what I was first looking at. Also I don't think we're prepared to spend the extra money. However I've been looking at models online and since they're older prices are relatively low.
