Ok,
Just received an upgraded winXP pc from a seperate company to do only one task pop3 mail. it runs with network 192.198.171.10 mask 255.255.255.255 Gateway 192.198.171.1
my network is 192.168.154.0-250 mask 255.255.252.0 Gateway of 192.168.154.1.

I would like to make the new winxp machine visible to my network and still be able to pop3 to the other mail server is this possible. They are already connected via hub and crossover cables.

Thanks in advance

Can't you just change the ip of your new box? If not then you need a router. You can do this out of an old Linux pc.

Well I tried to change to IP address to that of my local lan. But the problem is that it will not download email. Destination becomes unreachable casue it goes to the internet. I even tried putting in routes to the router to make stay local, but it seems that they have configured to firewall to only only certain IP addresses through.

Thanks anyways

I figured it out

did Registery hack to enable IP forwarding, then simply put in the local lan IP address. And everything worked fine.

Thanks for your help
