seperate backup of email vs. contacts list

Due to differnt retention rules between exchange contact list and actual emails, I need to somehow seperate these backups on my exchange server. Currently I'm using Commvault Galaxy, and specifying the following backups:

Exchange Data Base
Exchange Mail Box
Exchange Public Folder

I have not yet tested a restore, and not sure where things go. Bottom line is that my emails need a seperate retention vs. everything else. Any ideas? Thanks.

can your backup software specifically choose which folders in an exchange mailbox can be backed up or even which folders can be excluded from a backup?
