Is anyone using Lotus Notes (6.5) and having luck with SEO? Is there a battle plan out there with tricks/hints?

don't really understand how you mean. What has SEO got to do with an email platform and document server. Presuming you mean the Lotus Domino HTTP server rather than the Notes email client

The technology serving out the pages to user agents has zero effect on SEO, provided that it outputs the documents in HTML markup of course.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Notes is not only an email client but also a web environment (Domino)..

oh really.. "pages to user agents has zero effect on SEO" Care to tell that to Google, Yahoo and MSN representatives that disagree with you whole heartedly?

If "pages to user agents has zero effect on SEO" why would the question be asked?

Geez thanks for your help..

It doesn't one bit whether your site runs on IIS, Apache, Domino, WebSphere or MyHomeMadeWebserver

Chris is correct, as you should realise from looking at the MVP list for this forum.

The only way Domino might effect a page's SE potential is if it [em]really[/em] mangles the HTML output so badly it becomes unreadable.

To be frank, even with something like Domino or, DomiNO! as I like to call it, you shouldn't have too many problems.

Concentrate on Backlinks to the site and well written, informative content. Same as with any SEO.

Care to name any of these "representatives"?

Care to link to anywhere where they disagree?

Care to tell us why you're wasting our time if you're getting advice direct from "Google, Yahoo and MSN representatives"?

Thought you knew what you were talking about.. Clearly this forum is terrible.

By the way jackass why don't you do a google search and Domino and SEO and you will the issues with it.

I didn't find any reasonable references to SEO 'issues' with Domino in a Google search. Clearly this is a terrible forum. It takes real idiots to try to give constructive advice as opposed to following a red herring.

If your Domino server serves well constructed, robot-readable, robot-navigable web pages (and this may or may not be part of your real problem) then SEO rankings will follow.

As Foamcow stated, backlinks and content are more important than your server type.

Clearly you have the better of us.
Please feel free to post some links for the issues you have found and any specifics you feel we should know about.

SEO is a continual learning process and if you can assist in areas you consider us lacking we will be glad to hear about it.
