All:

In the past I have been using the DoCmd.SendObject method to email a report to various people. Up to now it has worked flawlessly but today it is thowing an error that says: ". . . SendObject is not available now."

I use a Registry program to cleanup my registry and have used MalwareBytes and AVG anti-Virus programs while in SAFE MODE to clean up my system. I have rebooted a number of times but the problem persists. Only thing I can think to do is reload (or repair) the system.

Anyone have any suggestions on what's going on or how to fix this?

Thanks,

Ron

Are you sure you have a default email programme? This may be under Set Default Programmes on your Start menu.

Remou:

Thanks for your response.

I'm running Windows XP.

If I understand you correctly, the default mail handler for OE is found under the General tab in the Tools menu of OE in the Default Mail Handler group.

Yes, the default mail handler is set to Outlook Express.

Remou:

Ah, yes. I found it and yes it is set to Outlook Express.

I wonder could this be part of the notorious 2003 sp3 problem? Have you installed any updates, what version are you using?

Remou:

I am using Acc 2003 with SP3 and now the latest hotfix per the MS link you suggested. I am also up to date on XP with the SP3 update nad any later versions of Windows update.

I have not rebooted but the hotfix did not fix my problem.

Remou:

I wouldn't expect it to, but do you suppose running RegCure or Registry Booster 2 (registry cleaners) or MalwareBytes (anti-malware program) could have scrubbed an important file that this problem needed?

Ron

I am not familiar with those programs, but is by no means impossible. I guess you have tried a repair on Access? Can you check your win.ini file (widows directory or run->sysedit) under mail, do you have MAPIX=1?

Remou:

Before I acted on your last message, I found the solution to my problem. However, I thank you for staying with me and helping with suggestions.

I'm not sure why Outlook was not on my machine but I eventually found that a reference must be set to MSOUTL.OLB before SendObject would work.(Logic would say "why install Outlook if you're using Outlook Express?") Once it was installed, everything worked fine.

SOLUTION: For the record, for anyone experiencing the case where SendObject returns the error "SendObject not available," Try installing Outlook and checking to see that the reference is set to MSOUTL.OLB. It may solve your problem.
