Gurus,

I want to check if my sendmail is working for HP-UX 10.20 & HP-UX 11.0:

1.) how im gonna check if it's running (what's the right command)?

2.) how im goin to configure it (premise would be, for the two machines and possibly to other .com mails)?

Stefano -- do you have a mail server, capable of forwarding mail, available to you? Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.

yes... i believe we do have NT server..but not quite sure about unix mail server...

can i use NT mail server instead? so that i can use sendmail in my unix boxes?

You need a machine set up to resolve local and remote mail delivery. This could be UNIX or NT and it's known as a "mail forwarding host".

Probably easiest to choose an NT server, install NTMail on it (an interface between SMTP (UNIX Mail) and Microsft mail) and call that your mail forwarding host.

Stefano,

All I can do is recommend a book -- the reference book on sendmail really. Go to and search on sendmail --it's the O'Reilly book you want. Mike
