hi,
i know how you feel , the details say that all filesets needed for the fix but when you have a look at the filesets
it shows hacmp , vsd which if you haven't got on your system you don't need , you could
a. download all filesets and do an update it will only install the ones it needs OR
b. speak to IBM and ask them whther you need the whole lot if so can they send it you on a CD
When I ran a test through SMIT to see how many files will be updated this is what it came back with:
FILESET STATISTICS
------------------
275 Selected to be installed, of which:
26 Passed pre-installation verification
150 FAILED pre-installation verification
99 Replaced by superseding updates
----
26 Total to be installed
RESOURCES
---------
Estimated system resource requirements for filesets being installed:
(All sizes are in 512-byte blocks)
Filesystem Needed Space Free Space
/usr 51640 1403136
/tmp 18536 404064
----- -------- ------
TOTAL: 70176 1807200
Does it seem right that only 26 files out of 255 will be installed? What about those 150 files that did not have the prerequisites, is that going to cause a problem?
hi,
basically the fix depends on what maintenance level you have currently installed ( instfix -i | grep -i ML)
you download the fix according to the ML you have installed.
What they would suggest is to go to the latest ML which is currently 11 ( i would go to 10) and then apply the fix
If it doesn;t require the filesets then it won't install it , the reason the fix had failures because it couldn't find the pre-reqs , plus it depends pre-reqs failed .
So , you need to load the latest Maintenance Level (ML)
and then the fix. You should beable to get the ML CD from IBM
