Hello forum,

Being relatively new to sendmail administration, the following question came from my organization, which I couldn't find out that quickly;

we want to send mail messages directed to certain mail addresses directly to a different sendmail host. For example messages directed to user 'nms' should go straight to a sendmail mail server on a monitoring station 'monitoring.domain.com' while all other messages should go to the normal relay server 'mailserver.domain.com'

In the sendmail.cf file we now have only the regular entry:

DSmailhost$?m.$m$.

referring to the mailhost in /etc/hosts.

I don't know whether this is permitted at all by sendmail, I guessed it would be possible. Any help will be welcome.

Thank you.

Try an email alias in /etc/aliases, maybe that does it:

nms: nms@monitoring.domain.com

Remember to run "newaliases" after adding the alias.
